In this period which falls on the New Year, there are many local regions where snow covers the landscape. Under the thick snow, wheat is quietly starting to germinate in anticipation for the spring. Wheat has a strong environmental adaptability, and it is eaten by approximately half of the world's population. The edible varieties are said to originate from the Middle East, and generally it is cultivated worldwide by sowing the seeds in the fall, and harvesting as crops in early summer of the following year.
